My father loves nature. We have a small farm in Al-Hada, outside the city, where he grows roses and pomegranates. Almost every weekend, we drive there together, and he teaches me how to water the trees and pick the roses carefully. In spring, when the roses bloom, the whole farm smells wonderful. He always says that a farmer must be patient, because good things take time.
My father has taught me many things. When I was little, he taught me to ride a bike, and he never laughed when I fell. يحب أبي الطبيعة، ولدينا مزرعة صغيرة في الهدا خارج المدينة، يزرع فيها الورد والرمان. وفي أغلب عطلات نهاية الأسبوع نذهب إليها معاً بالسيارة، ويعلّمني كيف أسقي الأشجار وأقطف الورد بعناية. وفي الربيع، حين يتفتح الورد، تفوح من المزرعة كلها رائحة رائعة. ويقول أبي دائماً إن المزارع لا بد أن يكون صبوراً، لأن الأشياء الجميلة تحتاج إلى وقت.
علّمني أبي أشياء كثيرة؛ فعندما كنت صغيرة علّمني ركوب الدراجة، ولم يضحك مني قط حين كنت أسقط. وعلّمني أن أفي بوعودي، وأن أعامل الجميع باحترام، من حارس مدرسته إلى أكبر رجل سناً في حيّنا. والأهم من ذلك أنه علّمني حب التعلّم؛ ففي كل ليلة يسألني: «ماذا تعلّمتِ اليوم يا مها؟»
أنا محظوظة جداً لأن لي أباً مثله. يعمل بجد طوال اليوم، لكنه يجد دائماً وقتاً لنا. وعندما أكبر أتمنى أن أكون صبورة وصادقة وكريمة مثله. حفظه الله، ورزقه عمراً طويلاً وحياة سعيدة.
