Everyone has a hero, and my hero is my mother, Fatimah. She is a nurse at a big hospital in Dammam, and she has worked there for more than fifteen years. Her job is not easy. Sometimes she works at night, and sometimes she comes home very tired. But when she opens the door, she always has a smile on her face, and the first thing she says is, "Yousef, how was your day?"

My mother is the kindest and most patient person I know. When I was in fifth grade, I found reading very difficult. She did not get angry. Instead, she sat with me every night, and we read short stories together until I could read well. Last winter, when I was sick, she stayed next to my bed all night and gave me my medicine on time. She takes care of her patients at the hospital, and she takes care of us at home with the same love.

My mother has taught me many important lessons. She taught me to respect older people, to tell the truth and to finish my work before I play. She also taught me to cook simple meals like eggs and pasta, so now I can help her on busy days. She often reminds me that helping others is one of the best things a person can do.

In Islam, being kind to our parents is a great duty, and I try to show my mother how much I love her. I help her with the housework, and I always call her when I am going to be late. I know that I can never repay her for everything she has done for me, but I will do my best to make her happy and proud.
